SEC Provides Guidance on EDGAR Next Enrollment Ahead of March 24 Launch

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is offering extensive guidance and resources to assist filers with upcoming security and account management enhancements to the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system. Starting March 24, 2025, a new EDGAR Filer Management dashboard will be available for filers to enroll in EDGAR Next, which aims to enhance security and streamline account access.

The EDGAR Next rule and form amendments, adopted in September 2024, were designed to help filers securely manage and maintain their EDGAR accounts while simplifying access procedures. While enrollment remains open until December 19, 2025, the SEC strongly recommends filers enroll by September 12, 2025, to prevent any disruptions in filing capabilities.

SEC Offers Support and Resources for Filers

SEC’s EDGAR Business Office Director, Jed Hickman, acknowledged the significant interest in the transition and emphasized the agency’s commitment to providing support.

“We appreciate the tremendous interest from both individual filers and the filing industry in our kickoff webinars and technical developer sessions, and we will continue to provide resources and assistance to ensure a seamless transition to EDGAR Next for filers,” said Hickman.
